Information for Non-YNU Members

Yokohama National University Library is open not only to the University staff and students; the Library materials are also widely available for use to the general public, to the extent that it does not hinder education or research at the University.
However, since services available have some restrictions, we recommend you to make an inquiry to us referring to the description below as much as possible in advance by telephone, etc.

For the General Public

Entry procedure will be still easier, if you have a common pass for university libraries in Kanagawa Prefecture, or a letter of introduction issued by organization you belong to.
By the same way, entry procedure will be easier, if you have ID card or student card which shows that you are a staff or graduate student who belongs to a national university corporation.

You cannot use the other medium such as video tape, DVD, CD-ROM, the Internet, etc.
We will make an effort to arrange for those materials which are holdings of the Faculties provided you make an inquiry in advance.  (In many cases, you cannot use the Faculty's material on the day of inquiry.)
OPAC of YNU Library and Webcat of NII contain bibliographic data of non-library's holding (such as laboratory's holding, etc.) which is hard to use immediately.  You are strongly advised to make an inquirement to us by e-mail, facsimile, telephone, etc. about using specified materials (i.e.; materials whose title, author, publishing data are clearly known) before visiting our library.  Depending materials, you cannot use them on the same day you visit us, if you make no inquirement to us in advance. (Reference Desk)
Loan Library materials are not to be borrowed outside the library for walk-in users.
However, if you are a registered user, you can use loan service of the books of library possession with "Library Card" (Please note that it takes about 1 week from an application to card issuance)
